LEATHER FROM THE SEA
In terms of sustainability and new materiality, global problems are looked at through the prism of the search for new surfaces. In order to transform harmful processes into sustainable ones, I turn to the natural environment and look for answers in nature, expanding the limits of biomaterial production and creativity fostering ecological consciousness. During the creative project, I immerse myself in experimentation and search for new surfaces, new leather that can be adapted to clothing and the environment. Connecting human life with the natural environment and perceiving the world as an organic fabric. The created surfaces are characterized by different shades, textures and flexibility. Their appearance, surface irregularities and structure, which was helped to create by the natural soap used in the recipes, resemble natural leather. Ingredients used in the experiments: water, glycerin, carrageenan, agar, furcellaran, spirulina and chlorella powder, red algae (Ceramium tenuicorne), green algae (Ulva intestinalis) and natural soap.
